Crítica:
This Bushmills can only be obtained in the duty free shops and hence is a 1 litre bottle. It's a marriage of the classic Bushmills single malt and Bushmills that has matured in Caribbean Rum casks. It delivers a spicy sweet dram.
The nose is wonderful. Typically Bushmills: sweet with honey and vanilla - but augmented by rum flavours, meaning raisins. You can also discern the ex-bourbon oak. It's quite spicy already and makes your mouth water.
The dram is very creamy and delivers on its promise from the nose, but gets overrun by sweet malt with rum, dark chocolate, caramel and toasted oak. It's quite fruity too. This one is very sweet, but not disturbingly so - on the contrary!
The finish may be limited to rum and spices, but it's so deliciously long.
I have a soft spot for Irish whiskeys (and Bushmills in particular), but this one is truly a wonderful expression. The bottle can be found from approx 50 pounds, but is worth every penny (especially considering that it's a full litre!). Probably one of the best Irish whiskies on the market today.
