Situado na zona mais elevada do país, a 1000 metros de altitude, este hotel moderno e com bons serviços proporciona-lhe uma fácil exploração das áreas da região e locais. O Hotel Vanguarda é um estabelecimento de 3 estrelas superior, com quartos bem climatizados e equipados, incluindo um restaurante panorâmico, serviço à carta e de buffet e todas as amenidades de que necessita o viajante dos dias modernos. A localização do hotel significa que, se estiver interessado, terá amplas oportunidades para explorar as montanhas vizinhas, das mais altas da região, bem como as atracções históricas e culturais das imediações.

Localização:

Relação qualidade preço imbatível. Quarto excelente com vista soberba, bom serviço. Pequeno almoço excelente. Uma crítica somente, fomos colocados num quarto com porta comunicante junto a uma família com bebé que nos diminui a qualidade de descanso. Quando a ocupação do hotel o permite, como era o caso, deveria ser prestada alguma atenção nestes pormenores. Uma excelente aposta contudo.

Simply everything was first class, the building most interesting, the staff friendly and helpful, the breakfasts great,

Views on both sides were great. Our bedroom really spacious , comfortable and immaculate.

The one "complaint " - we did not stay longer.

Who could ask for more? We will certainly return -- as soon as possible !!

I spent 3 nights here. Very comfortable rooms in a modern hotel (equivalent to a 3-star Hilton Garden Inn or similar in US/Canada). Ask for mountain view room- nice. Rooms in Portugal and Spain in 2-4 star hotels do not have irons and ironing boards like most North American hotels....so if you need an iron, take a travel type with you (remember adaptor plug you can buy at CAA or AAA for $3). Hotel restaurant food on top floor is good (if you like rather rich Portuguese food - try their great Caldo Verde soup)and table service was impecable. I am a frequent business traveller and sleep ~ 80-100 nights/yr at hotels and eat out a lot. I got one of the most courteous, attentive table service you can get anywhere at this place. There is a nice bar on the top floor (opposite the restaurant) with a nice view of the moutains - also friendly service. Unfortunately, the bar only serves sandwiches. Visit the Guarda cathedral (~ 950 yrs. old) - impressive! If you have the time, visit the town of Sabugal (~ 50 km from Guarda) - the impressive medieval castle has just been restored and cleaned up...also beautiful landscaped gardens around it. And get used to the maddening traffic circles you get every km in Portugal and Spain!
