O pequeno-almoço é algo caro mas vale bem a pena. O restaurante também é muito bom. Adorei e quero voltar.

Crítica:
This is one of those paradors (like Tenerife or Cazorla) which are worth visiting not for the building but for the spectacular scenic setting: in this case the dramatic limestone peaks of the eastern Picos de Europa. The reception staff were welcoming and friendly, and our room was large, comfortable and had a galleria to enjoy. If you need a lift beware that not all floors have one. You can eat in the restaurant or in the (cheaper) hotel opposite - neither was perfect but we enjoyed both. There are several waymarked local walks to choose from, but none are really easy. If the weather is good then take cable car (conveniently right next to the parador, but start early to avoid long queues: 09.00-10.00) up to the high sierra. From here most people who are fit enough seem to either climb to the NW for views over the Naranjo de Bulnes (return the same way) or descend to Espinama - the first of these is good, but the problem with the latter is you are then faced with the long walk up the busy road to the Parador (unless you have 2 cars). Also problematic is the circular walk (jokingly labelled as "easy" on the local government pamphlet for walks in the area) anticlockwise around Espinama via Pido. The first part is good, but the last part lacks any signposts and you need a compass (better just enjoy the S side of the valley and return the way you came). The funcionario responsible for this pamphlet (available for free at the Parador) is obviously incompetent. In general, this is high mountain country and needs to be treated with respect: it is a good idea to start gently rather than, for example, launch oneself into an immediate assault on the Vega de Lliordes which lies 850m above the Parador to the west. For my money, however, the Picos de Europa are the most spectacular mountains in Spain, so don´t miss the chance to see them if you can.

The architect of this Parador missed a great opportunity to make a great bldg. in a beautiful setting. He put the service areas of the hotel facing the best views with the cafe and bar and many of the rooms facing the road and parking lots. Be sure to ask for a room with a terrace facing the picos. We were lucky to get such a room and enjoyed sitting on the enclosed terrace reading and watching the horses and the clouds coming in and out. One thing I wish I had not done was to pay for it with the "5 noches" card(103 euros a night) as they regularly charge 60 euors per night during the week and 90 euros a night (including breakf) during weekends for 2 people. Free wifi in all the rooms plus a computer in the lobby for those without laptops/netbooks. We would have a roll and coffee up at the cafe next to the "teleferico" for 5.80 euros and watch the great view. Recommend you go on a guided walk with the national park staff, informative and you meet other fellow travelors. Information on the walks can be had at the information booth at the front of the parking lot. Ate at different places, our fave was at Maximos at the town just down the hill, Espinima. Menu for 10 euros including bread, wine, dessert and taxes.
