While the reviews of the hotel here were not inspiring, I booked it anyway because it was near the Salle Pleyel (I had tickets to concerts there), yet not terrible far from the major tourist attractions, while being in my price range. I felt being near the Salle Pleyel was important so I had the option of walking to and from -- there's no subway stop near it and getting there via taxi doesn't work since there is so much traffic.

Location: Since Paris is so spread out, I don't think there is any ideal hotel location for tourists. The Holiday Inn is sorta an equidistant location between the Louvre and Eiffel Tower, so I guess that's good. In the area surrounding the hotel I didn't find too many restaurants. Next time I do Paris I'll try to find something closer to the Lourve, even if that means the tourist area surrounding the Eiffel tower will be a fairly long journey away.

Hotel: While everything was clean, and the size of the room was pretty reasonable, the hotel badly needs a full renovation. Everything showed signs of wear-and-tear: window shades were stained, furniture had nicks, paint was pealing, etc.

The breakfast was a basic European hotel breakfast.

I have to give particular credit to the hotel staff. I was in Paris during the transit strike, and they were very helpful in helping me deal with that. When I needed a taxi, which were in high demand during the strike, one of the staff chased a cab down in the rain form me.

Bottom line: I would look for other hotels, but if you're looking at the Holiday Inn because you like the location and price, I wouldn't let the negative reviews on this website scare you away.

This is a very basic hotel that does not offer value for money at 200+Euro per night. It is conveniently situated for my work and also for other Parisian tour hotspots but there are many others that offer better value.
Unless you are a close friend of Snow White then also avoid the 5th floor rooms as the sloping roof is hazardous to health.
I stayed here previously 3/4 years ago but it has become a very tired and neglected place and ramped up its prices. Very disappointing.

This hotel is in a great location. Beside the Champs Elysees. The hotel is basic enough but the rooms were nice and clean and the bathrooms were excellent. The staff were so friendly and helpful and really did all they could to make this a good stay. The breakfast was basic but fresh coffee and croissents! I would defintely stay here again. Right beside a metro station and very handy for walking to shops etc. Great hotel great location

I've had case to work in Paris last week - Suresnes to be exact, so I thought I'd stay central so I could be a tourist in the evening. My colleague booked this hotel as we're both Priority Club members and it's always good to top up my points.

Upon arrival, you'll be surprised that it looks like it's down an alley - which it is, kindof. The road outside it is hugely busy and I cannot emphasise the noise enough.

Which is the first problem - the noise - the road is busy at all times of day if you look out over the road (which I did) - and don't bother with closing the windows and turning on the air conditioning as it didn't work - unless you count belting out hot air as working that is (and it was very, very hot last week).

My room was ok - but I'm a Platinum member of the reward scheme so I get an upgrade - my colleague isn't so his room was small, pokey and uncomfortable. My bathroom sink, however, was somewhat loose and the plug didn't work (unless I pulled the metal catch under the sink)

The bar is a joke, I'm afraid to say, they were very poorly stocked and the white wine tended to be on the warm side. Not what you want on a hot day. As for other drinks - no Port, brandy, cognac, etc...

Breakfast - they do have breakfast facilities, but they're pretty bad. There's no refrigeration of, well, anything really. The milk was belatedly brought out one morning and it was already warm - the fruit juices were also warm and I don't even want to think about the
"cold" meats and cheeses that were out already at 7am when breakfast starts. There's some kind of mystery sausage type of meat with what might be scrambled egg - I didn't try either.

On the plus side, the staff are friendly and the hotel is in close proximity to the Champs Elysees - but NOT 2 minutes like the website says - unless you go by taxi. There are also some decent bars and restaraunts nearby too. Taxis, when booked, come very quickly.

If you go to the Holiday Inn website, you'll see photos of the hotel
- they are, strangely, accurate, but there's clearly been some artistic licence taken here.

It's not a terrible hotel really and I was going to give this 2 stars, but it's bad points far outweigh it's good ones, so it's more a 1 and a half.
